I still prefer to use the separate regional guides. I don't have to thumb through lots of pages of birds that don't even occur where I live and go birding. The Sibley Guide instantly became the industry standard when it was released inand it remains on top thanks to its comprehensiveness, cleanliness and simplicity.
Employing the classic David S ibley drawings, the book presents more plumages and subspecies than any other guide, but never overwhelms.
